RumptyCloud runs on physical infrastructure operated in Lagos. Solar generation and battery storage provide most of the energy used by the platform, with grid and generator capacity available when required. This page explains our current energy setup, how we estimate our renewable-energy share, and what we are working to measure more accurately.

RumptyCloud's Lagos infrastructure is supported by 24 solar panels (620 W monocrystalline each, roughly 14.9 kWp of total array capacity), a 16 kWh primary battery bank, and an additional 5 kWh backup battery. Solar generation and stored energy power the infrastructure through most normal operating periods, with the public grid and a generator available as fallback sources.
During daylight hours, solar energy powers the infrastructure directly while excess generation recharges the batteries. Stored solar energy then helps carry the load through periods of lower generation and into the night.
During extended cloudy conditions or periods of unusually high demand, the public grid may supplement solar generation and battery storage. We use grid power selectively to maintain availability and avoid unnecessary deep battery discharge.
A 7 kVA generator is available for extended outages when solar generation, battery capacity, and the public grid cannot support the infrastructure. It is treated as an emergency fallback, and we aim to keep its use as limited as possible.
The ~90% figure is our current estimate of the proportion of infrastructure energy supplied by solar generation, either used directly or stored in our batteries. It is based on typical operating conditions and is not yet an independently audited measurement. Grid and generator usage mean that we do not claim to operate on 100% renewable energy.
We are working toward directly measuring energy generation and consumption across solar, battery, grid, and generator sources. As our monitoring improves, we will update this page with measured historical data and a clearer view of our energy mix.
